Amazon has a special program for charitable organizations called AmazonSmile.
Individuals shopping at smile.amazon.com have the same variety of products to choose from with a nice perk: at no cost to them, they can support their favorite nonprofit.
The AmazonSmile Foundation donates 0.5% of the purchase price from the eligible goods. Shoppers can choose a nonprofit they want to support from a list of millions of 501c3 approved organizations.
How Can Your Nonprofit Benefit From AmazonSmile?
Your charity is eligible to register with AmazonSmile and start receiving donations from qualifying purchases if it meets the following criteria:
- Your charity must be 501c3 approved by the IRS;
- It should be listed by GuideStar;
- It has a valid email address;
- It has a bank account and is able to receive electronic transfers (that’s the only way donations can be received from AmazonSmile).
Donations are sent to the 501c3 charities on a quarterly basis.
