Comcast Foundation was established in 1999 and since then it has contributed nearly $158 million for charitable activities in the following areas: expanding digital literacy, promoting community service and building tomorrow’s leaders. The Foundation invests in programs of qualifying nonprofit organizations that will bring a positive, sustainable impact on their communities. Some of the foundation’s accomplishments include: providing free Internet connection to more than 100,000 low-income families; providing more than 130,000 hours of free airtime for public service announcements each year, awarded nearly $2 million in Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarships, etc.
Comcast employees are giving back to the community by participating in Comcast Cares Day. In 2012, more than 75,000 volunteers participated in 660 projects nationwide. The company is also matching the employees’ charitable contributions.
The applications for grants are accepted online. Each applying organization/individual must provide budget outlining details (generally the requested grant shouldn’t exceed $150K); be specific about what you want to achieve; state how the funding will be used and why your proposal should be chosen; in the event your organization is selected to receive a grant, Comcast may assign an internal project liaison to interface with you. Most of the grants and sponsorships are announced twice a year.
More information about specifics is available on the Comcast website.
