If you have already started writing your company’s mission statement, you know for sure it’s a challenging task. The mission statement needs to be clear and simple, however at the same time it needs to be descriptive and informative about your organization’s focus and managers’ intention for success. Below are our tips for defining your organization’s mission:
M – memorable – make your mission statement easy to remember. Make a long story short.
I – interpretive – provide a good description of your company’s focus.
S – specific – use concretization; no need of additional explanation.
S – solid – read your mission statement loudly at least twice. Does it sound convincing to you?
I – illustrative – make readers picture your company’s products/services.
O – objective – define your organization’s goals.
N – neutral – provide facts in an open-minded way.
Below are the mission statements of three car brands that have proved their success over the years. They all provide mobility; however, their mission statements touch you in a different way.
Ferrari Mission Statement:
“We build cars, symbols of Italian excellence the world over, and we do so to win on both road and track. Unique creations that fuel the Prancing Horse legend and generate a “World of Dreams and Emotions”.
Tesla Mission Statement:
“Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.”
Mercedes-Benz Mission Statement:
“Mission: perfection.”
